Winky D Pays Tribute To Scara The Drummer

On Sunday, Zimbabweans woke up to sad news that one of Winky D’s  Vigilance band members, Delroy Scara Maripakwenda had passed away. The highly talented artist and drummer who was affectionately known by his professional name of Scara The Drummer died on Saturday night after suffering a heart attack.

Last night,  Winky D did a special emotional tribute to Scara The Drummer during his live performance on Nash Tv. Winky D dedicated his song titled ‘Panorwadza Moyo’ to him whilst in the background pictures of the late Scara were being displayed.Arts practitioners who include creatives, musicians, promoters, choreographers, and producers among others were saddened by the sudden death of talented dancer-cum-drummer.

The late Drummer Delroy “Scara” Maripakwenda was laid to rest at Warren Hills Cemetery on Tuesday at a funeral attended by top names in the arts sector.Born in Kambuzuma, Scara burst on to the scene as Winky D`s drummer during his best touring phase. One of his best performances was during Winky D’s live performance at the Beenie Man show in 2017 when he introduced fans to his invisible drum kit.During his career, he also played for many artists, including Sabastian Magacha, Garry Tight among others.‌

He was considered to be one of the foremost instrumentalists in the country. His funeral brought together the entertainment industry, a testament to the impact he had in the showbiz industry.
