Zimbabwean musician Jah Prayzah’s decision to remain mum during the #ZimbabweanLivesMatter campaign is proving costly after Zimbabweans on social media teamed up to snub his request for votes after being shortlisted for Africa Entertainment Awards USA alongside Burna Boy, Eddy Kenzo and Yemi Alade among others.
The Hokoyo hitmaker who is not a stranger to political backlash posted on Twitter, celebrating his nomination among Africa’s best 10 while appealing to Zimbabweans to vote for him.
This angered a section of social media users who were quick to remind him that when they needed his voice against human rights abuses by the President Emmerson Mnangagwa regime he was nowhere to be found.
Some even rooted for Burna Boy who during that period posted something using the then trending hashtag.
