Fellow Zimbabweans,esteemed journalists and family members,it is with great shock and heavy heart that we have learnt of the untimely death of Foster Dongozi who at the time of his death was the Secretary General of the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ).He played a significant role in advocating for media independence. The role that he played cannot be exhausted fully in this condolence message piece.He rose through the ranks from a tender age, notably in 2013,he was one of the key journalists in the Information and Media Panel of Inquiry (IMPI).He played an imperative role in the crafting of the Freedom of Information Act which is now law,the *Zimbabwe Media Commission Bill which has been sent to the President.He also became influential in the crafting of the Zimbabwe Media Practitioner’s Bill this year which talks about the independence of Journalists amongst other issues.As a committee we were anticipating that we will also finish the pending Media Bills with him.
We have lost a great man indeed.May his soul rest in eternal peace and may his family find comfort in the Lord.
