The Border Management Authority (BMA), established as an armed service under Section 199(3) of the South African Constitution, is recruiting for three senior positions at its Head Office in Pretoria. The BMA was formalized through the Border Management Authority Act (No. 2 of 2020).

Applications must be submitted by 7 March 2025, with a completed BMA Employment Application Form (downloadable from www.bma.gov.za) and a comprehensive CV, including employment history and two recent contactable references. Do not include copies of qualifications, ID, or driver’s licenses in the initial application. Only shortlisted candidates will need to provide certified copies later.

1. Executive Manager: Administration (Ref: BMA 1/1/2025)
- Salary: R1,479,429 – R1,691,565 (all-inclusive)
- Division: Office of the Commissioner

- Requirements: Postgraduate qualification (NQF 8) in Business/Public Administration (Master’s at NQF 9 advantageous); 8-10 years in Administration/Governance, with 5 years at management level; knowledge of the South African Constitution, BMA Act 2020, Public Finance Management Act, and related frameworks; valid driver’s license; flexibility for extensive hours.
- Duties: Oversee governance committees, legal/regulatory compliance, corporate governance framework, policy compliance, risk mitigation, protection services, administrative functions, special projects, secretariat services, budget planning, and stakeholder relationships.
2. Senior Manager: Vetting and Ethics (Ref: BMA 2/1/2025)
- Salary: R1,200,000 – R1,400,000 (all-inclusive)
- Division: Investigations

- Requirements: Degree in Law/Forensic Investigations/Risk Management/Policing (NQF 8); 8 years in Ethics/Vetting/Investigations, with 4 years at management level; knowledge of the Constitution, BMA Act 2020, anti-corruption laws, and related acts; professional registrations (e.g., Ethics Institute, ACFE) advantageous; valid driver’s license; willingness to work overtime and travel.
- Duties: Lead ethics and vetting programs, ensure compliance, supervise background checks, resolve ethical issues, manage risk/fraud registers, oversee budgets, and foster stakeholder collaboration.
3. Senior Manager: Employee Relations, Health and Wellness (Ref: BMA 3/1/2025, Re-advertised)
- Salary: R1,100,000 – R1,300,000 (all-inclusive)
- Division: Corporate Affairs

- Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Labour Relations/Labour Law/Organizational Psychology (NQF 7, NQF 8+ advantageous); 8 years in employee relations, with 4 years in a managerial role; experience in health/wellness programs; knowledge of employment laws, wellness frameworks, HIV/AIDS management, COIDA, and public service legislation; valid driver’s license; willingness to work overtime.
- Duties: Develop strategic plans with leadership, oversee employee relations, and implement health/wellness programs.
