The small community of Kutloanong, Odendaalsrus, has been left in shock after the discovery of a newborn baby boy inside a deep freezer. The gruesome find was made on September 11, when the owner of a house in the township stumbled upon the baby in a deep freezer located in a shack on his property.
Wrapped in a tracksuit top and placed in a plastic carry bag, the baby was already in a frozen state when discovered. The police were alerted after receiving a complaint and swiftly launched an investigation.
On September 12, the 27-year-old mother of the child turned herself in to the Odendaalsrus police. She has since been arrested and appeared in the Odendaalsrus Magistrates’ Court, facing a charge of concealment of birth.
