The former Vice President of The Confederation of Zimbabwe industries, Mr Edson Padya who was also the Managing Director (MD) of BOC Gases Zimbabwe, has died.
Padya’s death was announced by Mr Busisa Moyo, a Zimbabwean business executive and the current Chief Executive Officer of United Refineries Ltd. Posting on Twitter, Moyo said:
So sad to have lost my friend and colleague Mr Edson Padya (MD of BOC Gases Zim), former Vice President of @czionline, He arranged for the 10,000litre tank that is at Ekusileni & donated the first fill. I took this photo 06.10.2020 State House @iam4byo.
Moyo also indicated that Edson Padya succumbed to COVID-19.
Zimbabwe recorded a spike in coronavirus cases and deaths towards the end of the fourth quarter of 2020.
Authorities say surge was triggered by complacency during the festive season adding that the new and aggressive coronavirus variant that was first detected in South Africa might have been imported into the country when the borders were reopened in December.
