Tragedy has struck the Thabethe family once again, as it was reported by Daily Sun that Mzwakhe Thabethe, the father of missing girl Amahle Thabethe, has passed away in a car accident. News of his death comes as another devastating blow to the family, who are still grappling with Amahle’s disappearance.
Mzwakhe was initially reported missing when he didn’t return home, prompting the family to share his photo widely on social media in hopes of locating him. Sadly, their worst fears were realized when his body was discovered at a government mortuary in Heidelberg.
According to the family, he died alone in a car accident. “He was found alone in the car,” a relative confirmed. Another relative added, “It’s heartbreaking that Mzwakhe passed away while his daughter is still missing.”
The Thabethe family is mourning the loss of Mzwakhe in private, requesting space as they navigate this difficult time. His passing brings renewed grief to a family already enduring so much heartache, as they continue to search for answers about Amahle’s disappearance.
Amahle Thabethe vanished on April 6, 2019, while playing near her home, and she would have turned 14 this year. Her mother, Nokulunga Nkosi, still clings to hope that one day Amahle will come home safely. Life has been incredibly challenging for Nokulunga, who once had to be hospitalized due to the immense stress of her daughter’s disappearance.
Ekurhuleni Police spokeswoman, Captain Nelda Sekgobela, stated that the police are following up on leads, hoping to finally bring closure and answers for the Thabethe family.
