**Skeem Saam Actor Clement Maosa Reveals How He Attempted Suicide Twice**

Clement Maosa, best known for his role as Zamokuhle ‘Kwaito’ Seakamela-Maputla on the popular South African soap opera *Skeem Saam*, recently opened up about his personal battles with mental health. During an emotional interview on *Mac G’s Podcast and Chill*, Maosa revealed his struggles, including his attempts to take his own life on two separate occasions.

Growing up, Maosa faced numerous hardships, including poverty and the devastating loss of both his parents at a young age. The death of his father, in particular, had a profound impact on him, sending him into a deep emotional crisis. Maosa explained, “I tried, eish, I think I was going through a lot around that time,” indicating the overwhelming feelings of hopelessness that drove him to his first suicide attempt.

In a moment of desperation, Maosa ingested Soft ‘n’ Free hair relaxer, hoping it would end his life. Reflecting on this dark period, he described the chaotic state of mind he was in, desperately searching for a way to escape his pain. Thankfully, he received prompt medical attention, which saved his life.

Maosa’s second suicide attempt was even more harrowing. He recalled a moment when he decided to drive his father’s Toyota Cressida into an oncoming truck. Having learned to drive from his father, he knew exactly how to operate the vehicle, turning that knowledge into a means of ending his life. However, something stopped him at the last moment, preventing a tragic outcome.

Despite these dark moments, Maosa’s story is one of resilience and survival. He has since found strength in overcoming his painful past. In the podcast, he took a moment to deliver a powerful message of self-affirmation: “Your parents left you as a teenager with nothing but look at you. You stood the worst of times and lost so many loved ones but look at you now…” His words not only serve as a testament to his own strength but also offer hope to others who may be facing similar struggles with mental health.

Maosa’s courage in sharing his story has resonated with many, bringing much-needed attention to mental health issues and the importance of seeking help.
