Renowned South African actor Ronnie Nyakele has officially left the popular soapie *Generations: The Legacy* after a decade on its set. Nyakele, who brought the character Cosmo Diale to life, has decided to part ways with the show to explore new opportunities within the acting industry.
Nyakele, who gained fame for his role as the notorious Papa Action in the hit drama series *Yizo Yizo*, made the difficult decision to leave *Generations: The Legacy* after feeling that his character was not evolving in the way he had hoped.
Sources close to the actor revealed that Nyakele felt the role of Cosmo had become stagnant, prompting him to seek new challenges. “The character of Cosmo wasn’t growing beyond his expectations, and it was often the same thing from the character. This triggered him to start looking for an exit plan and exercise other avenues in the acting industry,” shared one insider.
Another source added, “The storyline wasn’t aligning with his vision for the character, and that often frustrated him. He wanted to find a role where he could improvise and bring more depth to the character.”
In a statement released by SABC publicist Carol Phalakatshela, the soapie expressed gratitude for Nyakele’s contributions and wished him well in his future endeavors. The statement also announced that award-winning actress Didintle Khunou would be joining the cast as Tumelo Gcabashe, a high-powered financial expert with ties to both business and criminal elites.
“We would also like to take this opportunity to wish Muzi Mthabela, who plays Nkosiyabo Cele, and Ronnie Nyakale, who plays Cosmo Diale, well in their upcoming projects. These stalwarts of the show will be on an indefinite hiatus as they pursue other avenues for creative expression,” the statement read.
Ronnie Nyakele’s final appearance as Cosmo aired on August 28, marking the end of an era for *Generations: The Legacy*. Fans of the show will undoubtedly miss his dynamic portrayal, but anticipation builds as Nyakele embarks on new acting ventures. Attempts to reach Nyakele for comment were unsuccessful.
