Manicaland yesterday recorded the highest number of COVID-19 new cases according to the Ministry of Health and Child Care. Of the 156 new COVID-19 cases, 77 of them were recorded in Manicaland while Harare and Midlands had the same amount of new cases after they each recorded 26 new cases. Mashonaland West and Matabeleland South both had 0 cases while Masvingo and Matabeleland North had 1 case each.
The Ministry also stated that of the country’s 4788 active cases 90 were hospitalised, which is a decrease from the previous day’s statistics of 171 hospitalised cases. Of the 90 hospitalized cases the ministry said 4 were asymptomatic, 63 were mild to moderate while 17 were severe, and 6 were in Intensive Care units.
Meanwhile, the government through the Finance Ministry has implored willing members of the public and the private sector to donate to the government to help the government procure the COVID-19 vaccine. The government is yet to announce a vaccine rollout plan.
