In a year that has carried many ups and downs for Samantha “Misred” Musa, she is capping it off on a high.
Misred was last night honoured with an award at the Public Relations and Communications of Zimbabwe Excellence Awards 2020 under Best Campaign lifestyle and Entertainment. Misred is currently one of the most popular radio and event hosts.
She currently graces the radio waves on Zifm during drive time and she was the red carpet host at the recent premiere of Gonarezhou. Misred has also constantly used her platform to shine a light on Zimbabwe’s tourism and she tries to encourage locals to visit tourist destinations regularly. All these things together show that the recognition at the PRCZ awards was well deserved.
Misred is also the founder of Red Market Sunday which is an initiative that harnesses the power of social media and Misred’s popularity to help local start-ups and SMEs to advertise themselves.
It is completely free for businesses and how it works is that startups/small businesses post a tweet stating what they do, their contact details and then tag Misred’s Twitter handle.
Misred will then retweet the startup’s tweet and this gives the startup’s tweet the chance of being seen by the over 150 000 people who make up Misred’s Twitter following. In the post of Misred announcing she had won an award from PCRZ she wrote:
“It’s been one of those years… But I need to thank my team #Rednation & #RedMarketSunday team for allowing me to be me & do things that mean something. I mean I was recognized alongside Alick Macheso, Baba & Mai Charamba plus KVG, HONOURED! Wow!!!!”
The 2020 awards were the second edition of the Institute of Public Relations and Communication Zimbabwe excellence awards which were held in Harare last night. The prestigious awards drew several corporates and public relations practitioners from across the country. Speaking before the awards executive director from the Institute of Public Relations and Communication Bridget Mawoko said that the competition was a lot tougher this year.
The Minister of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa was the guest of honour at the prestigious awards while Public Relations expert Yomi Okusanya who is also the president of the African Public Relations Association also graced the event. The awards ceremony was held under the theme Resilience and Retention – Overcoming hardships and challenges of Covid-19.
Congratulations to Misred !
