Tshwane, Date – Popular DJ Vettys, real name Seunkie Mokubung, was shot on Monday evening, January 29, as he was en route to a gig at Top Notch Lifestyle (formerly Ayepyep Sunnyside) in Tshwane. The DJ, a close friend of the late DJ Sumbody, who owned Ayepyep, is currently in a critical condition.
Vettys’ management team issued a statement on Tuesday, January 30, confirming the unfortunate incident. The statement disclosed that the DJ had survived the shooting but was in a critical condition, receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
“On Monday, 29 January, DJ Vettys was involved in an unfortunate incident following a shooting in the evening as he was leaving to a gig. Thankfully, he survived, but is, however, in a critical condition and currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital,” read the statement.
The management team appealed to the public for prayers, stating, “DJ Vettys’ family and management would like to thank everyone who has reached out with concern, and we ask that you continue to pray for his speedy recovery.”
According to Vettys’ social media posts, he was scheduled for a gig at Top Notch Lifestyle, formerly known as Ayepyep Sunnyside, on the fateful Monday evening.
