Frank Lampard will officially get sacked as Chelsea manager today and reports indicate ex-PSG and Dortmund coach, Thomas Tuchel has been eyed as a first option for the club’s vacant position, iAfrica24 can confirm.
With over 200 million euros spent on new recruits during the summer transfer window, the club really expected big things from Lampard.
He has been blamed for the club’s slump to a ninth position in the Premier League after losing five of their last games despite a bright start on the campaign.
Reports suggest that he is set to hear his fate later today as votes are still underway on who will take his place at the Stamford Bridge camp.
So far, Thomas Tuchel remains a leading contender to the seat with a 4/9 votes.
He had been a free agent since December when he was shown the door by PSG despite leading the club on one league title and a Champions League final.
Even though many fans would have been happy to see Lampard continue maintaining his legendary status at the club, he has earned the worst points of any manager at Chelsea, with just 1.67 points per match.
He surely had to go.
But some fans do not share the same sentiments with the club’s high offices that took the bold decision;
Reports have further indicated that Tuchel will be signing a 18 month contract as the club’s manager and assume his position starting February.
