US President Donald Trump has finally agreed that a transition to an administration led by his rival Joseph Biden who is leading in the just ended US elections must begin. Trump has not conceded but he wrote on Twitter that a transition must begin. Trump Tweeted:
… Nevertheless, in the best interest of our Country, I am recommending that Emily and her team do what needs to be done with regard to initial protocols, and have told my team to do the same.
In the same tweet, Trump had vowed to continue with his fight to get the elections overturned or to have his]m declared the winner instead of Biden by saying:
I want to thank Emily Murphy at (General Services Administration (GSA)for her steadfast dedication and loyalty to our Country. She has been harassed, threatened, and abused and I do not want to see this happen to her, her family, or employees of GSA. Our case STRONGLY continues, we will keep up the good fight, and I believe we will prevail!
After Trump’s announcement, The Pentagon reportedly published a statement saying it will:
Provide support to the Biden team… in a professional, orderly, and efficient manner that is befitting of the public’s expectation of the Department and our commitment to national security.
The Democrats according to BBC also said the development was welcomed:
Today’s decision is a needed step to begin tackling the challenges facing our nation, including getting the pandemic under control and our economy back on track
Trump last month before the elections said he would not concede to defeat if America chose Biden over him.
