Viral video of 2 Airforce officers feeling dizzy during the Mbuya Nehanda Statue unveiling. There was drama at the Mbuya Nehanda Statue unveiling yesterday in Harare CBD along the intersection of Samora Machel Avenue and Julius Nyerere Way. It was a well-packed event considering the COVID-19 regulations and protocol.
President Mnangagwa has finally unveiled the Mbuya Nehanda statue that has been trending since last week and has been finally revealed. The statue had become the talk of the town since the day the plan was revealed. Mbuya Nehanda personifies this early resistance. Putting up a statue of Mbuya Nehanda is, therefore, a national celebration of her courage and those who worked with her in a bid to defeat the colonial occupation.
However, the whole event was filled with drama starting from the look of the statue itself. A lot of people agree with me that the statue doesn’t reflect or resemble Mbuya Nehanda in any way. In fact, the first statue which was a bit slay Queenish Mbuya Nehanda was even better than the one they erected yesterday. Many agree with me here.
Then there was the Zanu PF youth drama who turned the event into a campaigning rally, threatening opposition supporters and their leaders as well. A number of the Zanu PF Harare Youths marched singing Chimurenga mottos and chanting their slogans and promised terror to all those who supported opposition parties mainly the MDC A led by Nelson Chamisa.
However, the main drama that took centre stage was that of 2 Airforce officers who appeared to have been feeling dizzy whilst standing as the President was giving his speech. The first male officer who showed the dizziness signs almost fell into the ground before being taken away and his place being replaced by another stand-in officer. During the same time, a female officer also projected the same symptoms. She was removed and replaced again.
