South African Government Allocates R227 Billion in Additional Funding<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana’s Budget Speech<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana, announced in the 2023 budget speech on February 22, 2023, that the South African government would allocate an extra R227 billion over the medium term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SASSA Grant Increases for 2023 & 2024<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Allocation for Social Development<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the medium term, R66 billion will be allocated to Social Development, with R36 billion designated to extend the COVID-19 SRD (Social Relief of Distress) until 31 March 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inflation-Linked Increases for Social Grants<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

R30 billion will be utilized for inflation-linked increases for various social grants provided by SASSA (South African Social Security Agency). The grant recipients will receive the following amounts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note that there is an increase on 1 April and 1 October each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
