As previously reported, Senzo Meyiwa was shot and wounded on October 26, 2014, at the residence of his girlfriend, singer Kelly Khumalo, in Vosloorus.

Five individuals are currently on trial for Meyiwa’s murder: Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa, and Fisokuhle Nkani Ntuli. They face a range of charges, including premeditated murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravated circumstances, possession of firearms without a license, and possession of ammunition.

In the resurfaced video clip from a 2022 media briefing by the EFF, Julius Malema expresses a strong belief that Senzo Meyiwa was murdered, and he suggests that people who were present at the house during the incident may have knowledge about the identity of the killer.

Malema specifically mentions Kelly Khumalo, stating, “We are more than convinced, personally I am more than convinced that Kelly knows something. I am more than convinced that she knows something. There must be a way that she must be held accountable.”

Recent developments in the case have indicated that Kelly Khumalo had communication with one of the accused, known as accused 5, with the last call occurring on October 15, 2014, just days before Senzo Meyiwa’s tragic death.

Furthermore, evidence presented in court suggests that Kelly Khumalo’s cellphone, which was reportedly stolen during the shooting, was in the vicinity of a hostel in Vosloorus at around 22:43 on the night of the incident. Investigator Lambertus Steyn has also revealed potential links between accused 1 and Kelly Khumalo after the incident.
