But what are the chances that amidst this digital cacophony, you stumble upon a post from AKA himself about Eswatini, published five years ago on the 28th of February – the very same week that his alleged perpetrators would be apprehended in South Africa’s neighboring country?

Recently, an old post by AKA from 2019 surfaced, leaving his fans wide-eyed and contemplative. The post simply reads: “Catch you in Eswatini tomorrow ya [sic] heard!!!” While the musician was undoubtedly referring to a scheduled gig in Eswatini at the time of the post, the serendipitous nature of his words, particularly the phrase “catch you,” takes on an eerie, almost prophetic quality for his devoted followers.

Meanwhile, in a turn of events that could easily be scripted for a gripping crime drama, the South African Police Services (SAPS) dropped a bombshell on the 27th of February. They announced the arrest of six suspects in connection to the tragic deaths of AKA and his close friend and business partner, Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane. Adding another layer of intrigue to the unfolding saga, a seventh suspect was apprehended the following day.

According to KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) police commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, the investigation led authorities across borders, with two of the suspects nabbed in Eswatini. As the wheels of justice turn, five of the suspects are slated to make their appearance in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on the 29th of February, while the other two, believed to be siblings, faced a magistrate in Manzini, central Eswatini, on the same day for extradition proceedings to South Africa.

The intricate web of the assassination plot, as detailed by Mkhwanazi, unveils a chilling sequence of events. It is revealed that the Company hitmaker was meticulously followed from the King Shaka International Airport upon his arrival in Durban, culminating in the fatal shooting outside Wish Restaurant on Florida Road on the 10th of February, 2023.

Mkhwanazi elucidated further on the roles of the suspects, shedding light on their alleged involvement in multiple murder cases. From the organiser who orchestrated the operation to the individuals responsible for providing vehicles, firearms, and executing the heinous act, each piece of the puzzle seems to fit together in a sinister tapestry of crime and betrayal.

As the nation grapples with the shockwaves of this tragic event, the arrests offer a glimmer of hope for closure and justice for AKA, Tibz, and their loved ones. Yet, the full extent of the truth remains shrouded in darkness, awaiting illumination in the hallowed halls of justice.
