Popular Limpopo musician has died – King Monada’s producer in hospital, 2 other people died

Limpopo musician Samuel Maritus Malatji, popularly known as Lil Meri, passed away at the age of 22 in Ralela Village, Bolobedu, on Saturday, December of last year but one, following a brief illness.

His manager, Given Khobane, conveyed the devastating news, stating that Lil Meri died upon arrival at the hospital. The suddenness of his demise left his family in shock, as he had alerted them to his illness, urging them to take him to the hospital. Unfortunately, Lil Meri succumbed to the short illness.

Lil Meri initiated his musical journey as part of the group Mabad Company before branching out into a solo career. Noteworthy among his tracks is “Ngwana wa Motho,” which received nominations at the Limpopo Music Awards and Sepedi Music Awards.

Having collaborated with prominent Limpopo music groups such as the Double Trouble and the Bad Company, Lil Meri gained recognition in the local music scene. DJ Janisto of the Double Trouble expressed his shock over Lil Meri’s sudden demise, emphasizing his bright talent and creativity. The duo had recently released two tracks, “Jesu Waka” and “Rato Laka,” with plans for a music video, making Lil Meri’s passing even more heart-wrenching.

In a separate note, King Monada Music extended well wishes for a swift recovery to their own, producer and musician Dr Rackzen (Leonard Ngoako Maimela), who survived a recent car accident.
