In a devastating turn of events, a tragic double death has struck Uzalo actress Baby Cele, renowned for her role as ‘Gabisile.’ This heart-wrenching ordeal unfolded when Baby Cele’s cousin, Mbuso Cele, committed a horrific act of violence straight out of a horror movie. He fatally shot his mother and inflicted severe injuries on his wife before taking his own life.

The grim incident played out in full view of their neighbors, driven by Mbuso Cele’s insistence on his demands going unmet. After the horrifying shootings, he fled in his car, and later, his lifeless body was discovered in Amanzimtoti.

A visibly shaken Baby Cele, known for her portrayal of Gabisile in Uzalo, struggled to contain her tears as she recounted the nightmarish events.

This heart-wrenching occurrence transpired on a Sunday afternoon around 1 pm. Mbuso Cele, who had been grappling with depression, unleashed a barrage of gunfire, tragically claiming the life of his 72-year-old mother, Norah. His wife, however, survived the assault and is currently recovering in the hospital.

Baby Cele stressed the importance of acknowledging and addressing depression as a serious illness, highlighting the need to seek help when faced with such struggles.

According to Mbuso’s sister, Nombuso, he and his wife had been separated since 2018. Mbuso had been battling depression but had declined to seek help, leading to his departure from his job as a car salesman.

Mbuso’s wife remains in the hospital, on her path to recovery. KZN police spokeswoman Captain Nqobile Gwala confirmed the tragic double deaths and noted that a male’s lifeless body with a gunshot wound to the head was discovered in a locked vehicle with a firearm nearby, leading to an inquest case being opened at the police station.
