Ramaphosa Thanks Bheki Cele For Finally Arresting 25 People Involved In AKA’s Murder

Ramaphosa Commends Bheki Cele for Progress in AKA’s Murder Investigation

Police Minister Bheki Cele received praise from President Ramaphosa for the recent arrests made in connection with the double murder case of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane. Cele announced that the police are making significant headway in the investigation.

This development follows a statement by KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi earlier this month, revealing that the weapon used in the murders had been located. Mkhwanazi further mentioned that they had identified certain vehicles involved in the incident and were in discussions with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) about confirming the identities of some suspects.

“The cars have been found, people have been identified, even the firearm that was used has been found. So, they are chasing exactly this person and are not very far from dealing the final blow to this case,” stated Mkhwanazi.

During a media briefing in Pretoria, Minister Cele urged the public to be patient as the investigation progresses, emphasizing the need to provide space for the police to work.

The incident involving Forbes and Motsoane occurred outside a restaurant in Durban on Florida Road on 10 February. CCTV footage captured the moment Forbes embraced Motsoane before a gunman emerged from a parked vehicle and opened fire, resulting in the tragic deaths of the rapper and his friend.

Mkhwanazi pointed out that extensive footage needs to be analyzed, and more than 25 cellphones are still awaiting examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
