Zahara’s family denies husband Mpho

In a tumultuous turn of events surrounding the funeral preparations for the late Bulelwa ‘Zahara’ Mkutukana, her family is reportedly sidelining her fiancé, Mpho Xaba.

As the family endeavors to arrange the final farewell for their cherished daughter in her hometown, a notable absence looms – Mpho Xaba is allegedly excluded from the preparations.

Contrary to the customary role of a son-in-law during such solemn occasions, ZiMoja has disclosed that Zahara’s family has opted not to involve Mpho in the funeral arrangements. The scheduled funeral of the revered Loliwe singer is set to take place on December 22nd in Phumlani, Eastern Cape.

The reported exclusion of Mpho from the preparations stems from an undisclosed issue – it is rumored that he did not fulfill the lobola requirements in their entirety.

The engagement between Zahara and Mpho was announced in 2023, and shortly after their lobola negotiations, tragedy struck as Zahara found herself hospitalized. Plans for their marriage in November were abruptly halted by Zahara’s untimely demise.

According to a source, Mpho’s failure to complete the lobola process led to his omission from the funeral preparations.

The brewing tensions surrounding Mpho’s status within the family manifested during Zahara’s memorial service at the Rhema Bible Church in Johannesburg. Allegedly, certain family members objected to Mpho being given the platform to speak.

Further complicating matters, another insider hinted that Mpho might not have paid lobola at all. This has fueled concerns within the family that his involvement in the burial proceedings could potentially result in disruptions.

During Mpho’s eulogy at Zahara’s memorial service on December 14th, eyebrows were raised as he provided insights into their relationship dynamics. Mpho recounted how Zahara, in an unusual twist of roles, was the one who actively pursued him.

He narrated incidents where he allegedly stood her up three times, and the dynamic shift occurred when Zahara, after a week of silence, initiated contact.

Zahara’s sisters, Lumka and Bandezwa Mkutukana, had previously spoken out about the singer’s tragic passing. Expressing a sense of being robbed, they emphasized Zahara’s radiant presence within the family.

As Mzansi mourns the loss of the Loliwe singer, attention is also drawn to the alleged complexities and shades surrounding her sisters’ behavior. The unfolding narrative surrounding Zahara’s funeral preparations continues to be a subject of public scrutiny and speculation.
