Msunduzi Mkhize gunned down

The murder of Ward 41 councillor, Mabhungu Mkhize, in Imbali Unit 14 has been strongly condemned by the Msunduzi Municipality.

Mkhize was fatally shot on a Friday afternoon, which came as a shock to many as he had been in a good mood at a council meeting just hours earlier.

The municipal manager, Lulamile Mapholoba, expressed condolences to Mkhize’s family, the Msunduzi community, and the ANC. Mkhize was known for his vocal and outspoken nature as a councilor.

While details surrounding the shooting were unclear, Mapholoba condemned political killings, emphasizing that the community loses its leaders in such tragic events.

The ANC in the Moses Mabhida Region also expressed shock over the assassination and commended the swift response of SAPS in apprehending two suspects. They called on the public to collaborate with law enforcement to bring the remaining suspect to justice. Concerns were raised about the rising violence in the Imbali area, where multiple murders have occurred recently.

Samsung Rolls Out September 2023 Security Update for Galaxy S23 Series in Europe

Just days after releasing the September 2023 security update for the Galaxy S23 series in the United States, Samsung has now extended the update to European users. This latest update covers both carrier-locked and factory-unlocked versions of the phones in Europe, ensuring enhanced security for users across the continent.

September 2023 Security Update for Galaxy S23 Series

The Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra in Europe are set to receive the September 2023 security update, marked by firmware version S91xBXXS3AWHR. The update carries a download size of approximately 320MB and focuses primarily on enhancing device security. It addresses over 60 security vulnerabilities identified in the previous software version.

Notably, this update does not introduce any new features or performance enhancements. Just last month, these phones received a significant software update that brought various camera improvements and added new camera features.

How to Check and Install the Update

If you own a Galaxy S23 series phone in Europe, you can check for the latest update by following these steps:

  1. Open the Settings app on your device.
  2. Scroll down and select “Software update.”
  3. Tap “Download and install.”

Alternatively, if you prefer a manual update, you can download the new firmware file from the firmware database and flash it using a Windows PC and the Odin firmware flashing tool.

The Android 14 Journey

Samsung introduced the Galaxy S23 series earlier this year, featuring Android 13 as the pre-installed operating system. However, the company has been actively working on updates, and some countries have already received the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 beta update for registered devices.

Samsung has plans to roll out the stable Android 14 update to these phones before the end of the year, promising users an upgraded and feature-rich experience. Stay tuned for further updates and improvements as Samsung continues to enhance its flagship devices.
