Senzo Meyiwa K!ller caught planning to K!ll Eyewitness in court
In the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, an eyewitness testified on Friday under heavy security. Constable Sizwe Zungu, who claims to know the accused, returned to the witness stand for cross-examination. On Thursday, he had placed the accused individuals at a hostel in Vosloorus, the same area where Meyiwa was killed at the home of his celebrity girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo.
On Friday, Constable Zungu’s security was visibly increased, with two tactical response team (TRT) guards stationed behind him as he testified. This heightened security came after an incident on Thursday when one of the accused was caught on tape making threatening gestures.
During his testimony, Zungu mentioned that he initially wrote his statement by hand, which was later typed. The defense requested access to the original handwritten notes. Zungu explained that some of his notes were at his witness protection residence, while others were at his homes in Tembisa and KwaZulu-Natal.
The judge expressed concerns about Zungu’s safety, especially as he would be traveling to KZN over the weekend to collect his notes. The judge stated, “There’s a real possibility that the safety of this witness has been compromised, and I hope that this witness will still be alive on Monday.” Zungu also mentioned that his family had been relocated to a place of safety.
As the proceedings adjourned, the judge advised Zungu not to take his safety lightly, and Zungu responded that he would pray for his safety.
