Social media users are once again buzzing about Nkanyiso Makhanya’s se.xual orientation, questioning whether he is gay or not. The speculation arises from recent social media activity and images shared by Somizi Mhlongo.

Despite portraying a straight character on the TV show Uzalo, Nkanyiso has never publicly discussed his se.xuality.

Adding fuel to the fire, photos of Nkanyiso reportedly twerking with Moshe Ndiki at a Pretoria nightclub have further fueled gay rumors. However, Nkanyiso has yet to address these images or comment on the speculation. Eskom’s Load Shedding Announcement

Eskom has announced its load shedding schedule for the upcoming weekend. The power utility will continue its rotation between Stage 1 and Stage 3 load shedding.

On Friday, 18 August, Eskom will implement Stage 3 load shedding starting from 16h00.

Saturday, 19 August will see the implementation of Stage 3 load shedding from 00h00 to 05h00, followed by Stage 1 from 05h00 to 16h00, and then returning to Stage 3 from 16h00 to 00h00.

This pattern will continue on Sunday, 20 August, with Stage 3 load shedding from 00h00 to 05h00, Stage 1 from 05h00 to 16h00, and again switching to Stage 3 from 16h00 to 00h00.

Changes to Load Shedding Calculation

Last week, the National Energy Regulator (Nersa) released a consultation document proposing changes to load shedding in South Africa. The new approach suggests considering the percentage of demand shed rather than the number of megawatts.

This allows for the possibility of even Stage 16 load shedding, which would involve shedding 80% of demand. However, experts believe that reaching this level of power cuts is unlikely.

Accessing Load Shedding Schedules

For residents in major metros, load shedding schedules are available for the following cities:

  • City of Johannesburg
  • City of Ekurhuleni
  • City of Tshwane
  • City of Cape Town (PDF)
  • Nelson Mandela Bay
  • eThekwini
  • Manguang
  • Buffalo City

Additional load shedding schedules can be accessed through Eskom’s website, loadshedding.eskom.co.za. Smartphone users can also download the “EskomSePush” app to receive push notifications about implemented load shedding and the corresponding outage times for their area.
